The Center for European Studies (CES) and Maastricht Summer School (MSS), part of the Student Service Centre, is looking for an International Relations Officer.

What will you do?

  • Preparing, coordinating and day-to-day running of various (study abroad) programmes and take the responsibility for programme budgets;

  • Organising and accompanying single or several-day study trips in Western Europe;

  • Organising information sessions for international students from diverse cultural backgrounds.


As a successful candidate, you will possess the following skills and competences:

  • Planning and organising: maintains a good overview of tasks, dividing them methodically (action, time-management and resources), sets priorities and monitors progress, has a great talent for organisation;

  • Open-ness to and experience with cultural diversity is essential; knowing how to handle issues relating to cultural differences in an efficient and professional manner and an ability to demonstrate a high-level of interpersonal skills in this regard;

  • Collaboration: contributes to common goals of the organisation, even if it concerns subjects that do not directly belong to core duties, a hands-on mentality;

  • Ability to anticipate: can identify the consequences of given problems or developments and provide alternatives for eventual outcomes with a flexible outlook and approach;

  • Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken)

  • Very client and service-oriented;

  • Good experience of the complete Office-package

    Knowledge of UM, experience in International Higher Education and knowledge of American and Australian culture is preferred.

An attractive 0.8-1.0 FTE job in an inspiring, service-oriented work environment, with the University Job Classification (UFO) profile of Internationalisation Officer, scale 8 of the CAO-NU and favourable secondary employment conditions.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary of minimum € 2.579,00 and maximum € 3.445,00, according to scale 8 of CAO NU. Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3%.



Contract type: Temporary , The appointment will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension and a permanent contract
